Do you want to study or work in a clean environment? As long as everyone does their part by not littering, the environment will be free of litters as well as a conducive place for everyone to play and work in. When we litter, you are harming the environment. Currently, the ozone layer is getting thinner and thinner. As a result, many harmful sunrays are entering through it. They have caused global warming.
These sunrays are harmful to the skin and can cause skin cancer. At the moment, the cases of skin cancer patients have gone up. At the same time, there is a shortage of landfills for the rubbish. In the past, people would use their things for a very long time. Things that were bought were usually functional, not trendy. In today’s throwaway society, we have the tendency to buy and throw away things when they are no longer in trend. This bad habit increases the amount of rubbish in landfills. At the same time, rubbish in landfills will decompose and produce harmful gases. We should try to recycle and reuse the product when possible. Our schools are promoting the recycle programme. Thus, we should participate and do our part for the environment by spreading the message to our family, relatives and friends.
We should also educate our loved ones about the importance of conserving our environment. We can help by expressing awareness of our own environment. In addition, we can give a hand by educating or brainstorming ideas on how to conserve and save the environment.
Everyone should play their part in contributing his or her own ways to protect the environment. Otherwise, the consequences can be dire if no action is being taken. When these gases are released, they make the ozone layer thinner; allowing harmful sunrays to come through, causing a rise in the Earth’s temperature. This in turn causes the polar icecaps to melt, changing the world’s water levels; damaging homes and endangering the lives of both people and animals. The least that we can do to reduce the harm to save the environment is by using less plastic bag and if possible, use recycled bags, using public transport and carpool. Therefore, it is a shared responsibility when it comes to protecting our environment. We should be responsible for our own actions and ensuring that the environment is a conducive place for everyone as this is where we belong and we should help to keep this place a safe one for everyone to live in.

Growth Camp 2008
Growth camp 2008, I have always like camps and thus, when I heard of growth camp for this year, I was full of energy and was happy and excited for it. I feel that a camp is important as it can nurtures our confidence, teamwork and at the same time to balance our lives well.
Personally, I enjoyed my camp and I tried to be spontaneous throughout the camp. The first day of the camp, we had team games such as abseiling and flying fox. Why did I say it is a team game? I feel that if we did not have the encouragement from our friends, would we dare to step out? Thus, we will need support from others. The second day of the camp is also about team games but they are different. We had games such as low elements where we have to walk through steps via the support of our friends and games like kayaking. Kayaking is a game whereby two people will have to control a boat and at the same time, we have to balance it. Both games require team work. Therefore, teamwork is very important. After the games, we had our campfire and every single one of us enjoyed the campfire and our own performance!
The third day of the camp, all of us had to clear the area and after clearing we will set off back to school. In conclusion, I felt enjoyable throughout the days in the camp. I feel that all the things we do requires teamwork and thus, we should obey this golden rule. We must keep this in mind as well, ''being an individual cannot do much.'' I think that we need to treasure one another and not wait until the very last minute.
In my opinion, I feel that being able to balance our lives is very important. We cannot be too stressed and also not to relax so much. We should balance ourselves. Thus, that is where camps play the role. Therefore, I feel that we should always respect camps as camps play an important role in our lives. We have to play hard but at the same time, study hard too.

My Career
Which career I want to pursue? A teacher, a veterinarian, accountant, police officer or doctor? Choosing a job is not that easy, but if we have a dream, it will be much easier. It is because if we have a dream to pursue, we will have a direction to work towards and an aim to achieve.
As for me, I would like to be an Events Manager in a hotel as partially from my own interest in organizing parties and birthdays.Partially a bit of influence from David Tutera, who is a tv host who is very professional with designing parties and events.
In order to qualify for this job, I will have to be well presented with excellent communication skills, high levels of self-motivation,a minimum Diploma qualification and be goal-driven, self-motivated with good negotiation skills and minimum two years of relevant catering skills experience, strong organizational and coordination skills. An Events Manager has to plans and execute events, think of strategy of how the events is going to work, preparing logistics needed, budget the cost and meet the satisfaction of the customer.

Singapore Flyer
How has the Singapore Flyer provide us with an enriching lesson outside the classroom? In my point of view, I expect the ride to be scarier but to my surprise, it was not scary at all. In fact, the flight was as smooth as I have ever thought of. The flyer itself is very smooth and steady unlike of what we have expected. I felt excited before the flight as I expected something that is more thrilling rather than just a slow and steady manner. However, the flight is still an enriching one.
When the capsule went higher and higher, Lots of landmarks will try to appear such as Esplanade, Marina Golf Course, Singapore River, Floating Stadium, The Fullerton and many more. I think the venue that they choose to set up the Singapore Flyer is a good choice as the surroundings around the Flyer is full of centre attractions, such as, the F1 racing circuit, the integrated resorts and more.
The experience on the Singapore Flyer was really a memorable day. This is also the first time I have been on the observation wheel. I also think that we should apply what we learn in class in the capsule of the observation. This way we can gain more knowledge.
In my opinion, I think that the capsule was really big and I did not expect the capsule to have an air-conditioner. We get to gather and play around but at the same time we do our assignments as well and this shows that we not only play hard, but do our assignments “hard” as well. Teamwork is also important and we must apply this skill most of the time. Another way of presenting teamwork is "Togther Everyone Achieve More".The trip itself is worth going as this trip enriched us with learning new concepts. This trip also let us blends in with our own classmates as we do our assignments with each other and this does not leave any of us out. If we really got to learn, it is best to learn as a whole rather than an individual. I wish that the school can organised more of outing trips.

Chinese New Year
Have you wondered why children and adults get so happy and excited when Chinese New Year is just round the corner? Chinese New Year is a happy occasion as it creates a better bonding for our relatives, friends and even us. It is because during Chinese New Year, it is the time for us to visit our relatives and friends. Chinese New Year has a total of 15 days.I think Chinese New Year is a day for relatives to finally meet together due to their work.
Chinese New Year have some customs such as when a person goes to another person’s house, firstly, the guests will need to wish the relative or friend “Happy New Year.” If there are unmarried people or kids, they will get red packet when they greet their elders. They will also hold oranges in both hands and hand it over to the elders. This is a form of respect, and whenever elders that will be giving the red packet will be giving some form of blessings to the person who gets the red packets. Some businessman will also hire lion troupes to their companies so as to let their companies “prosper” their business in time to come as they think that the lions are animals that will bring them prosperity and wealthy.
The Chinese have also a few beliefs such as on the first day of Chinese New Year, married women are not allowed to return to their parents’ place. They can only do so on the second day. On the seventh day, the Chinese will celebrate “Ren Ri” which means everyone’s birthday. On that day, they will also “Lao Yu Sheng” which means when they lift up the food, they will say things that will let them feel good and what they wants to achieve for the new year. During Chinese New Year, the Chinese also believes in bad luck. They are not allowed to say things such as “dying” or “breaking”. It is because it means bad luck and they believe bad luck will befall upon them.
People with stress would really think that Chinese New Year is just as same as what we do everyday. They do not believe in the custom and think they have really more important things to do. They would also think its a child play in celebrating this day.
Chinese New year is a day when we can really relax and reflect at the same time. Chinese New Year last for fifteen days and is only once a year so we should treasure the time spent together. Therefore, I think we should come together and celebrate this joyous day. Life is short and we don not know when is our time.So we should treasure this day.

Your Views on Chong Boon Rules
Have you wondered why there are school rules in school? What is their importance and why we should abide to it day by day? Talking about rules, Chong Boon rules are quite reasonable. It is because if a school does not have the rules required, the school will be in a disaster. A school has hundreds of people, if all of us break the rules, the life of the school cannot be carried on. The school rules are for us to follow and not break. We have to do things in a clearer mind and not do things in a messy manner. Thus, I feel that having school rules is not a problem.
Firstly, Chong Boon School rules are reasonable as school is a place for us to learn and not break rules. Chong Boon has rules such as truancy, late coming, behaviour, attire or appearance and more. They are rules that are important as if a person is late or play truant all the time, the student will be taking up the classmates’ time and neglecting his or her own studies. Furthermore, if a student carries behaviour or attitude problem all the time or dressing in an ugly manner, the person is humiliating his or herself and embarrassing the school. Thus, carrying out necessary punishment is also a good way for us to learn.
On the other hand, school rules are like guidelines for teachers and students on what is right and what is wrong. Teacher are here to pass down their knowledge and not wasting time scolding us for our behavior. We have to keep in mind of how the teachers had helped us in education and we should repay them by studying well and listening in class attentively or whenever they talk to us.
Some students do think " The more school rules I break, the more people would know me." This is some thoughts of the students. Furthermore, they do think that breaking school rules is a lot more easier than abiding the school rules.
Therefore, I think that we should abide the school rules as it is a form of respect to the school. For example: If you are in a public place and you want people to respect you, all you have to do is abide the rules. If you break the rules how would people look at you and further respect you as you do not respect them.So my view on the school rules is that it is reasonable.

New Technology: A Threat Or A Promise
Technology is something that causes a threat or promise. In my opinion, whether it is a threat or a promise depends on how you use it. There are pros and cons in using technology.
For pros, new technology helps us in everyday of our life. Technology For instance, crime-watching, combating and the advancement of our world etc.Technology allow us to invent automobiles that allow us to travel from places to places without walking which saves our precious time. Technology allows us to invent a very useful machine called computers. Computer allows us to type and print easy and we can edit if we spell the word wrongly.
Everything has an advantage and disadvantage. Technology is very useful. However, several blacksheeps use the advanced technology in an incorrect/absolutely disgraceful way! Here in Asia, there have been reports of people hacking into celebrities' computers which were sent for repair, and then, they found pornographic photographs stored inside and they posted it online! Is any values inculcated into them? Automobiles send harmful into the air which destroys the atmosphere. Natural resources on earth are getting lesser and lesser each day. The earth is getting warmer and warmer each day.
Therefore , Technology is both a threat and promise.

Has the Internet cause more harm than good?
As technology improves better and better, new stuff are created. The Internet is one of them. What is Internet? Internet is a global network which connects million of computer. More than 100 countries are linked into exchanges of data, news and opinions.Internet is also so convinence that most of people these days are using it for homeworks for student, searching information on web, writing reports for adults, chatting online and many more. Some people agreed that Internet has cause harm but some people disagree that Internet has cause harm but I agreed with both.
For agreed, I think Internet cause harm than good because people has use Internet for the wrong purposes. Some people might argue that the Internet causes harm as students start to lose concentration when they get too obsessed with their Internet games and sometimes, online chats. However, the Internet is not harmful in itself – students should have the self-discipline to stop using it, when they have to.
For disagree,The Internet helps students to find out more about the subjects that they are taking or are going to take. It helps them clarify things that they are unsure of. The Internet is a search engine that helps students to widen their general knowledge.
Students can also conserve the environment by emailing their friends instead of writing letters. What’s more, communication with their pen pals is faster through emails. Exams can also be submitted through the Internet and that saves many trees too. Imagine one piece of paper is sacrificing one tree. I cannot imagine the number of trees disappearing from Singapore each day.
In conclusion, the Internet is not as bad as it seems to be. The blame should not be put on the Internet and it is the people who use it. Some irresponsible people make use of it to cheat young girls like us through chat rooms or creating pornography websites. However, these stuffs can be controlled and the Internet has more benefits than harm.

Something Interesting That Happen During The Holiday
During the last December, I went to Hong Kong. The main reason was not to go sightseeing or visiting places like Disney Land, Ocean Park or anywhere. I went to Hong Kong just to celebrate with my grandmother a day which people of Hong Kong must celebrate,'guo dong'.Its a day where people of Hong Kong celebrate the passing by of winter and welcoming the new year.
As my father was a citizen of Hong Kong, we have to celebrate every year.If I ahd remember correctly, the plane that i was taking took off at 4.30pm and i reach Hong Kong around 10pm. The temperature of Hong Kong was icy cold. From my estimation, it was about 14 degree. As my grandmother stays in Hong Kong, we do not have to stay in the hotel. My grandmother has also moved her house which is much smaller. One thing that is weird about Hong Kong was all of houses that people staying was like a 2 room flat.Only very rich people like the celebrities could buy a house 5 room flat. When I reach my grandmother house,I was really shocked as her house was so small that it was only my room. My grandmother's toliet, kitchen and her living room was the size of my room. When I sleep, i do not need to on the air-conditioner as 14 degree is very cold.
About one week later, the day has finally arrived. My father book two tables for my whole family and my aunts, uncles and my cousins who stay in Hong Kong too.As the waiter walk to our tables, I could smell the aroma of the food. There were abalones, shark fin soup and roasted duck. My favourite part was the desert because the dish was called custard jelly skikn bun and custard was my favourite desert.I was very full after eating those delicious food but unfortunaley, I found that I was getting older. My cousin who was married had pregnant and for 7 months. I am about to become an uncle. I felt more sad for my cousin as he was only 8 years old and had to be an uncle. I am so sad to leave Hong Kong but it was a holiday that i will never forget.
